Branch President's Commentary

MESSAGE FROM OUR BRANCH PRESIDENT:

Friends,

I, along with Vice Presidents James Kaddy and Freddye Ross attended the first NAACP North East Area Conference, (NEAC) Civil Rights Hall Of Fame Award program held in Newton, Massachusetts on June 21, 2008.  Approximately 300 people were in attendance.  This event was historic in that it was the first ever, and extremely successful.

Our branch's own Third Vice President, Freddye Ross, played a significant role in the success of this program.  Governors  John E. Baldacci, Maine, Donald L. Carcieri, Rhode Island, James H Douglas, Vermont,  John Lynch, New Hampshire, Deval Patrick,  Massachusetts were all co-chairs for the event.

Vice President Freddye Ross and Treasurer Linda Freeman represented our branch at the recent NEAC quarterly Training Program. Racial incidents within our New Hampshire schools up to university levels are still problems, especially when complaints to officials are made and basically ignored.

Please consider bringing your spouse, friend or significant other to the July membership meeting.

I apologize for the recent inconsistency on publishing newsletters in a timely manner. We are addressing a few problems associated with this publication and expect improvements in the immediate future.
Our annual picnic is scheduled for August 3, 2008 at the same location as last summer in Eliot, ME. There are further details in the newsletter below.
Please provide your email address to the branch.  Each member that receives our newsletters via email saves the branch postal expense.

- Fred
